SKINCARE FOR MY SKIN TYPE

OILY:

1. Don't think you don't need to use face cream. Just because you're oily doesn't mean that your skin wont become dehydrated! Go for an oil-free option for both day and night.

2. Using a face scrub twice a week will greatly improve the appearance of your skin. Not only will this scrub away the excess dead skin cells and pollutants that cause breakouts, it will help your overall complexion.

3. Try a clay-based mud mask. This will draw out any impurities and excess oils in the skin. Keep this as a weekly treat to the skin.

4. Don't be tempted to use facial washes with harsh chemicals in them to prevent blemishes. Overuse of such products plays havoc with the natural balance of your skin and may dry it out very quickly. This dryness can lead to even more breakouts but now because the skin it too dry, instead of its original oily finish.
5. Washing your skin both morning and night is very important. This will make sure that dirt and oils aren't left on the skins surface. A foam-based face wash is perfect as it it light enough not to disrupt the balance in your skin. For those who don't like to use water, a cleansing water or cleansing milk is ideal. Don't forget to hydrate after!

NORMAL:

1. Keep your skin nourished. There are many textures and types of moisturisers to choose from. Read the packaging and decide what you like best.

2. Just like everyone else it is important to cleanse your skin morning and night. A good face scrub twice a week will help you renew skin cell and clear away dirt. Remember that every night you go to bed with makeup on, you age your skin by a whole week!!!

3. Use a face mask once a week as a boost to your skin.

COMBINATION:

1. Using a light lotion as apposed to a heavy cream for hydration is key. Make sure the product says it is for combination skin. A lotion will help hydrate those dry areas, but is not too heavy for any oily patches.

2. Exfoliate twice a week to help even out the skin's surface.

3. Using a clay mask once a week will help draw out any impurities in the skin.

DRY:

1. A richer cream is the way to go. Lotions may not provide the hydration that your skin needs. Listen to your skin and if you find that what you are using is too heavy, or too light, change your cream.

2. Exfoliation is very important for your skin and doing so twice a week will help remove that top layer of dead skin cells, and provide you with a more radiant looking glow.

3. Use a creamy looking face mask once a week to help boost the moisture levels in your skin. Stay away from clay/mud masks as they will dry-out your skin further.

4. A good night cream is very important for the moisture levels in your skin. While you sleep your skin repairs itself and it is then that you need that moisturiser present for the magic to happen!

A NOTE ON FACE CREAM (DAY AND NIGHT):
It is important that you do not use your day cream as a night cream. Why might you ask? The main reason is that most day creams contain a spf 15 or above. If you are to wear spf both day time and night time, your skin will build a tolerance to the spf and in the long run that spf will not be of any use to you! Also a night cream is designed to be richer or heavier than a day cream so may be too heavy for day-time wear, and it does not contain spf.
