Sometimes it can be hard parting with that favourite lipstick, or maybe you feel like that jar is half-full instead of half-empty. There comes a time when that beauty product is past its use-by-date. It can be hard to say goodbye but it is
ALWAYS for the better!
If you inspect the reverse or bottom of every beauty product you will find a teeny tiny symbol that looks like a cylinder with a lid with a number written in or beside it. This number indicates how long you should keep a product after you have opened it. However if you can clearly see that something has expired sooner than anticipated don't wait to throw it out.
Here is a rough guide to the life expectancy of some beauty products:
Mascara 3 Months
Liquid Foundation
6 to 12 Months
Liquid Concealer
6 to 12 Months
Pencil Eyeliner
Up to 2 years
Liquid Eyeliner
Less than 6 Months
Cream Blush and Eye shadow
6 to 12 Months
Powder Blush and Eye shadow
1 year
Lipstick 1 year
Skincare products 1 to 2 years
TIP: When you open your mascara beside your ear you will hear a little "pop" noise. The day that pop noise is gone is the day you should throw that mascara out!!
